     | 
| 2 |  |     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  | 
| 3 |  | learn of the death of Sylvia Mae Cooper, who passed away on  | 
| 4 |  | February 16, 2017; and
     | 
| 5 |  |     WHEREAS, Sylvia Cooper was born to Michael and Anna  | 
| 6 |  | Weinstein Hirschberg on  November 23, 1926 and grew up in Gary,  | 
| 7 |  | Indiana; she attended nursing school and married Paul N.  | 
| 8 |  | Cooper; and
     | 
| 9 |  |     WHEREAS, Sylvia Cooper opened a nursery school and day care  | 
| 10 |  | center in McHenry, Cooper Kiddie College; she turned a small  | 
| 11 |  | babysitting job in her basement into a thriving day care  | 
| 12 |  | business for over 27 years; and
     | 
| 13 |  |     WHEREAS, After retirement, Sylvia Cooper and her husband  | 
| 14 |  | spent many years traveling around the United States in their  | 
| 15 |  | motor home; she enjoyed teaching children how to swim, spending  | 
| 16 |  | time with her dogs, eating ice cream topped with Bailey's Irish  | 
| 17 |  | Cream, taking long walks in Glacial Park, and spending her  | 
| 18 |  | winters in Orlando, Florida; and
     | 
| 19 |  |     WHEREAS, Sylvia Cooper was preceded in death by her parents  | 
| 20 |  | and her brother, Robert Hirschberg; and
     |

| 1 |  |     WHEREAS, Sylvia Cooper is survived by  her husband of over  | 
| 2 |  | 60 years, Paul; her children, Mark Steven (Gail) Cooper, Dave  | 
| 3 |  | (Noriko) Cooper, Phil (Kathleen) Cooper, Annette (Herb)  | 
| 4 |  | Johnson, and Michele (Scott) Reiser; her grandchildren, Lori  | 
| 5 |  | (Edward Jr. - Ken) Cooper McKendree, Kevin Cooper, Stephanie  | 
| 6 |  | Cooper, Alan (Erina) Cooper, James Cooper, Jane Cooper, Phillip  | 
| 7 |  | (Andrea) Cooper Jr., Sarah (James) Strzalka, Mikael Johnson,  | 
| 8 |  | Trevor (Jessie) Johnson, Joseph Reiser, Amy Reiser, and Ashley  | 
| 9 |  | Reiser;  and her great-grandchildren, Eddie and Lana McKendree,  | 
| 10 |  | Rachael, Faith, and Isaiah Vela, Tyson, Paxton, and Gavin  | 
| 11 |  | Cooper, Ethan Demers, and Brinleigh and Makenna Johnson;  | 
| 12 |  | therefore, be it
     | 
| 13 |  |     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL  | 
| 14 |  | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of  | 
| 15 |  | Sylvia Mae Cooper, and extend our sincere condolences to her  | 
| 16 |  | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it  | 
| 17 |  | further
     | 
| 18 |  |     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be  | 
| 19 |  | presented to  the family of  Sylvia Cooper as an expression of  |
