SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Melvin Schieler of Bunker Hill, who 
4passed away on March 3, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Melvin Schieler was born in Iowa City, Iowa to 
6Alfred and Pauline (Recker) Schieler on January 19, 1934; he 
7served in the United States Navy and married Margie L. Wilken 
8in Alton on May 10, 1957; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Melvin Schieler was employed by the United States 
10Postal Service as a mailman in Alton; he owned and operated 4M 
11Greenhouses in Bunker Hill; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Melvin Schieler was a member of the St. John 
13United Church of Christ in Midway and the Fraternal Order of 
14the Eagles Aerie #254 in Alton; he was a member of the Franklin 
15Masonic Lodge #25 for 50 years; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Melvin Schieler was preceded in death by his 
17parents and his wife of 57 years, Margie; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Melvin Schieler is survived by his  daughter, 
19Michelle (Charlie) Wolff; his son, Mark Schieler;  and his  
20grandchildren, Meghan, Rachel, and Luke Wolff; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3Melvin Schieler, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
5further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to  the family of  Melvin Schieler as an expression of 
8our deepest sympathy.
