SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Derek Robert Caskey of Marengo, who 
4passed away on January 17, 2017 at the age of 20; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Derek Caskey was born in Barrington to Patrick K. 
6and Rae (Henderson) Caskey on January 4, 1997; he was a 2015 
7graduate of Marengo Community High School where he was an avid 
8football player and held a 3.5 GPA; he was a member of  the 
9Illinois High School Association All State Academic Football 
10Team, an All Conference Wrestler, and Unanimous All Conference 
11for Football; at the time of his passing, he was a 
12student-athlete at Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he was 
13a member of the football team as an offensive lineman; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Derek Caskey was a true Star Wars fan and sketch 
15artist; he enjoyed football, fishing, hunting, and golf; he 
16also enjoyed his dad's home-cooked meals, and his grandma's 
17mac-and-cheese; he loved spending time with his cat, Bertha, 
18his puppy, Rhino, and his dog, Butkus; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Derek Caskey was preceded in death by his 
20grandparents, Robert and Joyce Caskey, and Roger and Julia 
21Henderson; and his uncle, Tim Caskey; and

1    WHEREAS, Derek Caskey is survived by his parents, Patrick 
2and Rae Caskey; and his brother, Zachariah (Jennifer) Caskey; 
3he was a loving nephew and cousin to many; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
6Derek Robert Caskey, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Derek Caskey as an expression of our 
11deepest sympathy.
