SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of H. Ann Schultz of Lake Forest, who passed away on December 19, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Ann Schultz was born in Sidney, Iowa to Harley and Margaret (Bayes) Stevesson on January 16, 1925; she grew up on the family farm enjoying riding horses with her sister Mary Margaret; horses remained close to her heart throughout her life; after graduating from Malvern High School, she went on to Iowa State University, receiving her degree in Home Management; it was at a Tri Delta - Kappa Sigma dance where she met her beloved husband, Carl Schultz, and they married on June 6, 1948; and

WHEREAS, Ann Schultz and her husband raised their two children in Lake Bluff, where they resided for 55 years; she was a devoted and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she loved her family, home, garden, and many friends; and

WHEREAS, Ann Schultz was a talented needlepointer, creating many beautiful pieces; for over 30 years, she was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest and served on many committees; she was also a master bridge player and she and Carl played bridge well into their 80s; and

WHEREAS, Ann Schultz was recently preceded in death by her husband, Carl; and

WHEREAS, Ann Schultz is survived by her son, Mark (Diane); her daughter, Julia (Steve) Simon; three grandchildren, Melissa Coker, Sara (Chris) McIntosh, and Jennifer (Auston) Wilson; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Allie McIntosh; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of H. Ann Schultz, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ann Schultz as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
