| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Harold William Wilkinson of Kerrville, |
| 4 | | Texas, who passed away on January 15, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Harold Wilkinson was born in Alton to Harold and |
| 6 | | Esther (Beatty) Wilkinson on May 23, 1930; he graduated from |
| 7 | | Marquette High School in Alton and attended the United States |
| 8 | | Naval Academy, where he played football and became a decorated |
| 9 | | combat veteran of the Korean War; following the war, he |
| 10 | | received a bachelor's degree in education from Shurtleff |
| 11 | | College in Alton; he later completed his master's degree in |
| 12 | | education from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville; |
| 13 | | he married Frances Angelina Aloisi on June 16, 1956; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Harold Wilkinson began his four-decade long |
| 15 | | career in education as a history instructor in the Bunker Hill |
| 16 | | school system in 1955, eventually becoming the principal of the |
| 17 | | elementary/junior high school; he coached basketball and track |
| 18 | | at Bunker Hill and coached football at the Western Military |
| 19 | | Academy in Alton; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the school system, |
| 21 | | Harold Wilkinson worked at the Bunker Hill Gazette-News; he |
| 22 | | also served the Bunker Hill community as a city alderman, |
