| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
| 5 | | changing Section 50 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (5 ILCS 490/50) (from Ch. 1, par. 3051-50)

| 7 | | Sec. 50. Gold Star Days. |
| 8 | | (a) The Governor shall annually designate by
official |
| 9 | | proclamation the last Sunday in September as Gold Star Mothers' |
| 10 | | Day
to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor and |
| 11 | | commemorate the mothers of men and women who
gave their lives |
| 12 | | while serving with the armed forces of the United States
in |
| 13 | | time of war or during a period of hostilities.

| 14 | | (b) The Governor shall annually designate by official |
| 15 | | proclamation the day before after Gold Star Mothers' Day as |
| 16 | | Gold Star Family Day to be observed throughout the State as a |
| 17 | | day to honor and commemorate the families of men and women who |
| 18 | | gave their lives while serving with the armed forces of the |
| 19 | | United States in time of war or during a period of hostilities. |
