AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3062 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3062 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended  by 
5adding Section 22.6 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 60/22.6 new)
7    Sec. 22.6. Bone marrow registry inquiry; information.
8    (a) A physician may inquire of a new patient who is 18 
9years of age or older and under 45 years of age, on a new 
10patient intake form, whether the patient is registered with a 
11bone marrow registry. If the patient states that he or she is 
12not registered with a bone marrow registry, then the physician 
13shall provide to the patient information developed under 
14subsection (b).
15    (b) The Department of Public Health shall develop and 
16disseminate information regarding a bone marrow registry.  The

1information shall include, but is not limited to:
2        (1) the need for bone marrow donations;
3        (2) patient populations that benefit from bone marrow 
4    donations;
5        (3) how to join a bone marrow registry; and
6        (4) how to acquire a free buccal swab kit from a bone 
7    marrow registry.
8    (c) The provision of information  under subsection (a) and 
9the  dissemination of information  under subsection (b) may be 
10made orally, in print, electronically, or by any other method.
11    (d) The Department of Public Health may adopt rules to 
12implement this Section.".
