| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 12-603 as follows:
|

| 7 | | Sec. 12-603. Seat safety belts.
|
| 8 | | (a) No person shall sell any 1965 or later model motor |
| 9 | | vehicle of the
the
first division unless the front seat of such |
| 10 | | motor vehicle is equipped with
2 sets of seat safety belts. |
| 11 | | Motorcycles are exempted from the provisions
of this Section. |
| 12 | | (b) No person shall operate any 1965 or later model motor
|
| 13 | | vehicle of the
first division that is titled or licensed by the |
| 14 | | Secretary of State unless
the front seat of such motor vehicle |
| 15 | | is equipped with 2 sets of seat safety
belts.

| 16 | | (b-5) No person under the age of 18 years shall operate
any |
| 17 | | motor vehicle, except a motor driven cycle or motorcycle, with |
| 18 | | more than
one
passenger in the front seat of the motor vehicle |
| 19 | | and no more
passengers in the back seats than the number of |
| 20 | | available seat safety belts,
except that each driver
under the |
| 21 | | age of 18 years operating a second division vehicle having a |
| 22 | | gross
vehicle weight rating of 8,000 pounds or less that |
| 23 | | contains only a front seat
may operate the vehicle with more |
