| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 133 as follows:

| 7 | | Sec. 133. Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) |
| 8 | | Awareness Day. May 17th of each year is designated as Diffuse |
| 9 | | Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) Awareness Day. Brain tumors are |
| 10 | | the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children, and |
| 11 | | DIPG is a highly aggressive brain tumor that affects roughly |
| 12 | | 300 children a year in the United States. DIPG Awareness Day is |
| 13 | | to be observed throughout the State as a day to encourage the |
| 14 | | people of Illinois to help increase public awareness of this |
| 15 | | particularly aggressive form of cancer affecting children.
