| 1 | | AN ACT concerning safety.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Mass |
| 5 | | Transportation Safety Act. |
| 6 | | Section 5. Purpose. The purpose of this Act is to provide |
| 7 | | for the health of mass transportation employees and the safety |
| 8 | | of transit passengers, other commercial and non-commercial |
| 9 | | motor vehicle operators, and pedestrians. |
| 10 | | Section 10. Definitions. In this Act: |
| 11 | | "Appropriate rest period" means a period of rest of not |
| 12 | | less than 10 minutes for every segment of 4 hours, or major |
| 13 | | part thereof, worked in one work period. |
| 14 | | "Carrier" means any corporation, authority, partnership, |
| 15 | | association, person, or district authorized to provide mass |
| 16 | | transportation within this State. |
| 17 | | "Mass transportation" means transportation provided within |
| 18 | | this State by rail, bus, or other conveyance and available to |
| 19 | | the general public on a regular and continuing basis, including |
| 20 | | the transportation of elderly persons or persons with a |
| 21 | | disability, as defined in Section 2705-310 of the Department of |
| 22 | | Transportation Law. |
