| 1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 12-825 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/12-825 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 12-825. Extra-curricular activities; passengers. |
| 8 | | (a) Each school bus operated by a public or private primary |
| 9 | | or secondary school transporting students enrolled in grade 12 |
| 10 | | or below for a school related athletic event or other school |
| 11 | | approved extracurricular activity shall be registered under |
| 12 | | subsection (a) of Section 3-808 of this Code, comply with |
| 13 | | school bus driver permit requirements under Section 6-104 of |
| 14 | | this Code, comply with the minimum liability insurance |
| 15 | | requirements under Section 12-707.01 of this Code, and comply |
| 16 | | with special requirements pertaining to school buses under this |
| 17 | | Chapter. |
| 18 | | (b) Each school bus that operates under subsection (a) of |
| 19 | | this Section may be used for the transportation of passengers |
| 20 | | other than students enrolled in grade 12 or below for |
| 21 | | activities that do not involve either a public or private |
| 22 | | educational institution if the school bus driver or school bus |
| 23 | | owner complies with Section 12-806 of this Code and the "SCHOOL |
