Amends the Public Library District Act of 1991. Limits provisions regarding converting a public library to a public library district by prohibiting expansion of the territory that currently supports a public library to include areas that were not previously taxed before the conversion. Effective immediately.

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Public Library District Act of 1991 is |
| 5 | | amended by adding Section 10-7 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (75 ILCS 16/10-7 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 10-7. Expansion of territory. This Article shall not |
| 8 | | be used to expand the territory that currently supports a |
| 9 | | public library to include areas that were not previously taxed |
| 10 | | before the conversion. Nothing in this Section prohibits a |
| 11 | | public library district from adding territory under Article 15 |
| 12 | | of this Act.

| 13 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 14 | | becoming law.
|
