| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Margaret Ross, |
| 4 | | affectionately known as "Gran," on the occasion of her 100th |
| 5 | | birthday on October 5, 2018; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Margaret Ross became active with the 8th Ward |
| 7 | | Regular Democratic Organization in Chicago under the |
| 8 | | leadership of Committeeman John Stronger during the late 1960s; |
| 9 | | soon after joining the organization, she became the Precinct |
| 10 | | Captain of the 56th precinct; she served as Precinct Captain |
| 11 | | for 15 years; she also served as the President of the 8th Ward |
| 12 | | Women's Auxiliary for two years; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, In 1965, Margaret Ross was a founding member of |
| 14 | | the 79th Street Kimbark Block Club; for 20 years, she actively |
| 15 | | worked with the families on her block to "improve the quality |
| 16 | | of life" on their block and in the community; she was receptive |
| 17 | | to the concerns and suggestions of the residents and worked |
| 18 | | diligently to make improvements a reality and remedy concerns; |
| 19 | | and

| 20 | | WHEREAS, In 1972, Margaret Ross changed the focus of her |
| 21 | | career and began working as a Probation Officer in the Cook |
| 22 | | County Adult Probation Department, where she counseled |
