| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Larry Isaak on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as President of the Midwestern | ||||||
| 5 | Higher Education Compact; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Larry Isaak served as president of the Midwestern | ||||||
| 7 | Higher Education Compact (MHEC) from November 2003 until | ||||||
| 8 | November 2010 and was reappointed in April 2011; during this | ||||||
| 9 | time, he has helped lead a significant expansion in MHEC | ||||||
| 10 | activities related to student access and success, policy | ||||||
| 11 | research, and cost-savings initiatives; with his collegial | ||||||
| 12 | manner and insightful leadership, he has helped MHEC | ||||||
| 13 | commissioners find common ground, appreciate shared problems, | ||||||
| 14 | and learn from the successes and challenges of the 12 state | ||||||
| 15 | members; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Larry Isaak's leadership highlights MHEC's | ||||||
| 17 | mission of advancing education through collaboration and | ||||||
| 18 | resource sharing through the convening of educators, | ||||||
| 19 | policymakers, and other leaders in ways that foster and promote | ||||||
| 20 | interstate and inter-sector dialogue, problem-solving, and | ||||||
| 21 | cost-savings; under his leadership, many public and private | ||||||
| 22 | schools and other public entities in Illinois have saved | ||||||
| 23 | hundreds of millions of dollars through hardware, software, and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | service contracts; over 6,000 Illinois residents save $40 | ||||||
| 2 | million annually by participating in the Student Exchange | ||||||
| 3 | program; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Previously, Larry Isaak was the chancellor of the | ||||||
| 5 | North Dakota University System for nearly ten years and was | ||||||
| 6 | named chancellor emeritus upon his departure in October 2003; | ||||||
| 7 | he is credited with guiding collaborative leadership efforts | ||||||
| 8 | transforming the North Dakota University System through the | ||||||
| 9 | North Dakota Higher Education Roundtable, proclaimed as a | ||||||
| 10 | national model for collaborative leadership; prior to serving | ||||||
| 11 | the state government, he was employed with a private CPA firm; | ||||||
| 12 | and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Larry Isaak has served as chair of the State | ||||||
| 14 | Higher Education Executive Officers and as a commissioner to | ||||||
| 15 | both the Midwestern Higher Education Compact and the Western | ||||||
| 16 | Interstate Commission for Higher Education; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 18 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 19 | congratulate Larry Isaak on the occasion of his retirement as | ||||||
| 20 | President of the Midwestern Higher Education Compact, and we | ||||||
| 21 | wish him the best in all of his future endeavors; and be it | ||||||
| 22 | further
