| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in | ||||||
| 4 | the lives of Illinois citizens; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. Brad | ||||||
| 6 | Halverson is retiring from Caterpillar after 30 years; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Brad Halverson started as a staff accountant in | ||||||
| 8 | 1988; he then moved overseas and became the controller in | ||||||
| 9 | Europe, where he was responsible for Caterpillar's financial | ||||||
| 10 | reporting in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Upon returning to Central Illinois in 1996, Brad | ||||||
| 12 | Halverson became the General Accounting and Finance Systems | ||||||
| 13 | Manager; in 2010, he became the Vice President of the Finance | ||||||
| 14 | Services Division, and for the past five years, he has been the | ||||||
| 15 | Group President and CFO of Corporate Services and Financial | ||||||
| 16 | Products at Caterpillar; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Brad Halverson graduated with an associate's | ||||||
| 18 | degree in accounting from Illinois Central College in 1980; in | ||||||
| 19 | 1982, he graduated from the University of Illinois with a | ||||||
| 20 | bachelor's degree in accounting; he furthered his education and | ||||||
| 21 | earned an Executive M.B.A. from the University of Illinois in | ||||||

| 1 | 1996 and completed Caterpillar's Advanced Management Program | ||||||
| 2 | in 1996 and 2001; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Brad Halverson has shown that involvement in the | ||||||
| 4 | Peoria area is important to him; he is chairman of the steering | ||||||
| 5 | committee for the IHSA Boys Basketball State Finals, past | ||||||
| 6 | chairman of the board and current board member for Easter Seals | ||||||
| 7 | of Central Illinois and past member of the OSF Saint Francis | ||||||
| 8 | Medical Center Community Advisory Board; he has further served | ||||||
| 9 | his community by offering his leadership and expertise as | ||||||
| 10 | treasurer for the Easter Seals Foundation Board of Trustees; | ||||||
| 11 | beyond the local community, he is also a member of the Sysco | ||||||
| 12 | Board of Directors, a board member of the U.S. Chamber of | ||||||
| 13 | Commerce, and a member of the American Institute of Certified | ||||||
| 14 | Public Accountants; he was previously a member of the | ||||||
| 15 | University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Business | ||||||
| 16 | Dean's Council; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Brad Halverson grew up in Delavan and learned his | ||||||
| 18 | work ethic from his parents; he was first introduced to | ||||||
| 19 | Caterpillar through his father, who worked third shift for | ||||||
| 20 | Caterpillar in East Peoria; his father worked two jobs, and his | ||||||
| 21 | mother took care of Brad and his five siblings; and
| ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Brad Halverson married his high school | ||||||
| 23 | sweetheart, Mindy, in 1980; they have three children, Tyler | ||||||

| 1 | (Que) Halverson, Lauren (Michael) Hasten, and Megan (Rob) | ||||||
| 2 | Arseniadis; he also has four grandchildren, Allie Halverson, | ||||||
| 3 | Mason Halverson, Brynley Halverson, and Connor Arseniadis; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Brad Halverson enjoys spending time with his | ||||||
| 5 | family and friends, as well as golfing and playing basketball; | ||||||
| 6 | therefore, be it

| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 8 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 9 | recognize Brad Halverson on his outstanding career with | ||||||
| 10 | Caterpillar and his energetic volunteer service to his | ||||||
| 11 | community; we wish him every success in his retirement; and be | ||||||
| 12 | it further

| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to Brad Halverson as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 15 | respect.
