HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate and thank the organizers 
4of Festa Italiana for
their dedication in honoring and 
5recognizing Italian culture; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Greater Rockford Italian American Association 
7promotes the Italian
culture, sponsors social events and 
8activities, and performs works of charity and
philanthropy 
9benefitting the local Italian-American community; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The association's 2018 Festa Italiana marks the 
1140th year of the annual
celebration in Rockford; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The festival will feature Italian food, 
13entertainment, cultural exhibits, and more
for all ages; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Festa Italiana honors and recognizes the 
15contributions of the thousands of
Italians that have lived in 
16Rockford and Illinois; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, The festival is the largest contributor to the 
18Greater Rockford Italian American
Association's scholarship 
19fund, which has awarded over $700,000 in scholarships to
local 
20students and supports youth welfare activities; and

1    WHEREAS, Festa Italiana is the result of the hard work and 
2dedication of over 100 chair people and countless volunteers; 
3therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6congratulate and thank the organizers of Festa Italiana for

7their dedication in honoring and recognizing Italian culture; 
8and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the Greater Rockford
Italian American Association 
11as an expression of our esteem and respect.
