| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Rob Widmer on the occasion | ||||||
| 4 | of his retirement as President of Heartland Community College; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Rob Widmer began his career at Heartland Community | ||||||
| 7 | College as the Vice President of Business Services in 1996; he | ||||||
| 8 | has served as the third President of the College since June | ||||||
| 9 | 2013; as President, he is the chief executive officer of the | ||||||
| 10 | College responsible for providing strategic direction and | ||||||
| 11 | focus for the institution, as well as maintaining oversight of | ||||||
| 12 | all College functions and operations; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, As President of Heartland Community College, he | ||||||
| 14 | concentrated on supporting student success, serving as a strong | ||||||
| 15 | community resource, demonstrating sound fiscal stewardship, | ||||||
| 16 | and enhancing institutional effectiveness by committing to | ||||||
| 17 | continuous improvement; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Rob Widmer's ongoing leadership has been integral | ||||||
| 19 | to budget development and management, campus master planning | ||||||
| 20 | and growth of the campus, creating numerous sustainability | ||||||
| 21 | initiatives, and establishing vital community partnerships; | ||||||
| 22 | and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Rob Widmer has over 40 years' experience in | ||||||
| 2 | Illinois higher education; before his tenure at Heartland | ||||||
| 3 | Community College, he began his career teaching at Western | ||||||
| 4 | Illinois University; he then held a variety of roles at Lincoln | ||||||
| 5 | College between 1977 and 1985; he then worked at the Illinois | ||||||
| 6 | Community College Board from 1985 until 1994, where he advanced | ||||||
| 7 | from Associate Director to Deputy Director for Fiscal Affairs; | ||||||
| 8 | he then served as Vice President for Business and Financial | ||||||
| 9 | Affairs at Joliet Junior College from 1994 until 1996; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Rob Widmer earned bachelor and master's degrees in | ||||||
| 11 | business and economics from Western Illinois University; he | ||||||
| 12 | pursued doctoral course work at the University of Illinois at | ||||||
| 13 | Springfield and Illinois State University; he was also a | ||||||
| 14 | participant in the American Association of Community College's | ||||||
| 15 | Professional Administrators Development Institute; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Rob Widmer is the father of four grown sons and | ||||||
| 17 | has ten grandchildren, with another due in July ; therefore, be | ||||||
| 18 | it

| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 20 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 21 | congratulate Rob Widmer on the occasion of his retirement as | ||||||
| 22 | President of Heartland Community College, and we commend his | ||||||

| 1 | leadership and dedication to his students; and be it further
| ||||||
| 2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 3 | presented to Rob Widmer as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
