| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jordan |
| 4 | | Goldstein of Gainesville, Florida, formerly of Chicago, |
| 5 | | Carbondale, and Carterville, Illinois, on May 14, 2018; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Jordan Goldstein was born in Chicago to Freida |
| 7 | | Berman and Irv Goldstein on August 7, 1941; he attended the |
| 8 | | University of Illinois at Navy Pier and Southern Illinois |
| 9 | | University at Carbondale, where he majored in physical |
| 10 | | education and later earned a master's degree in rehabilitation |
| 11 | | administration; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Jordan Goldstein met Joyce Pickford in |
| 13 | | Carbondale; they married in 1966 and remained together until |
| 14 | | his death; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jordan Goldstein excelled in sports and was well |
| 16 | | known in Southern Illinois as a top-notch slow-pitch softball |
| 17 | | player; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, For years, Jordan Goldstein refereed youth |
| 19 | | basketball, umpired softball, and coached youth teams in |
| 20 | | Southern Illinois; he also helped organize and volunteered for |
| 21 | | the Special Olympics in Southern Illinois; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, For many years, Jordan Goldstein worked as a |
| 2 | | rehabilitation counselor for the Illinois Department of |
| 3 | | Rehabilitation Services in Carbondale, where he helped many |
| 4 | | people with physical, intellectual, and developmental |
| 5 | | disabilities and their families connect with government and |
| 6 | | other services and supports that gave his clients the |
| 7 | | opportunity to accomplish their life goals; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Upon retirement, Jordan Goldstein moved to |
| 9 | | Gainesville, Florida, where he continued his work assisting |
| 10 | | persons with disabilities in obtaining services, so they could |
| 11 | | live productive lives; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Jordan Goldstein is survived by his wife, Joyce; |
| 13 | | his brother, Ira; his son, Richard; his daughter, Dana Plotke; |
| 14 | | and his three grandchildren; therefore, be it
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 16 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 17 | | mourn the passing of Jordan Goldstein and extend our sincere |
| 18 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
| 19 | | him; and be it further

| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to the family of Jordan Goldstein as an expression of |
