| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize the life of Michael "Mike" |
| 4 | | Grenda and his dedication to the North Chicago community; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Grenda graduated from Illinois State |
| 6 | | University in 1999 and began his educational career in 2000 as |
| 7 | | an English teacher; he was in the classroom for five years |
| 8 | | until he finished his master's degree in educational leadership |
| 9 | | and organizational change and became the dean of students and |
| 10 | | head football coach at North Chicago High School; he then |
| 11 | | became the principal of Greenbay Elementary School; he |
| 12 | | transferred to the Neal Math and Science Academy for eight |
| 13 | | years, and now currently serves as principal of the A.J. |
| 14 | | Katzenmaier Academy where he continues to build a culture and |
| 15 | | climate for learning and pushes both staff and cadets to hold |
| 16 | | themselves to high expectations, as he does for himself; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Mike Grenda served as football coach, speech |
| 18 | | coach, conditioning coach, track coach, and basketball |
| 19 | | announcer at North Chicago Community High School; in 2005, he |
| 20 | | became the only coach in North Chicago history to take a team |
| 21 | | to the state playoffs; he holds the record for most wins in a |
| 22 | | single season as a coach; and
