HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize Tracy Sefcik of Wheeling on 
4completing a 3,142-mile bicycle trek across the country to help 
5raise money for veterans and first responders as part of a 
6fundraiser for the Gary Sinise Foundation; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Tracy Sefcik began her journey in San Diego in 
8early March of 2018, departing after a ceremony aboard the 
9flight deck of the USS Midway; she ended it in St. Augustine, 
10Florida two months later; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, While biking across the country, Tracy Sefcik 
12stopped along the way for medical appointments; she has 
13epilepsy caused by a brain tumor and suffered 16 seizures along 
14the way; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Tracy Sefcik exceeded her goal of raising $25,000 
16for the Gary Sinise Foundation, which serves our nation by 
17honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their 
18families, and those in need by creating and supporting unique 
19programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, 
20and build communities; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, The cause of supporting veterans is important to

1Tracy Sefcik who is herself a veteran, having served in the 
2United States Navy; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Tracy Sefcik is already planning her next trip, a 
4ride along the West Coast from Canada to Mexico in 2021; this 
5is a fundraising event with fireman from throughout the United 
6States for the 20th anniversary of 9/11 for the Gary Sinise 
7Foundation; the firemen will be riding from Seattle to Los 
8Angeles and Tracy will join them for that leg of her journey; 
9therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
11HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12recognize Tracy Sefcik of Wheeling on completing a 3,142-mile 
13bicycle trek across the country to help raise money for 
14veterans and first responders, and we wish her the best on her 
15next journey; and be it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17presented to Tracy Sefcik as a symbol of our respect and 
18esteem.
