| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Bruce Rasey on the
| ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as executive director of the Howard | ||||||
| 5 | Area Community Center; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Howard Area Community Center is a social | ||||||
| 7 | service agency providing free
education, employment, and | ||||||
| 8 | health assistance programs for community members of the greater
| ||||||
| 9 | Rogers Park area of Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, The Howard Area Community Center is a | ||||||
| 11 | collaboration of donors, community
members, and service | ||||||
| 12 | providers that provide often life-sustaining services; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Bruce Rasey spent 30 years holding senior | ||||||
| 14 | leadership roles in the human services
sector before assuming | ||||||
| 15 | the position of executive director of the Howard Area Community | ||||||
| 16 | Center in 2010; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Bruce Rasey led over 100 staff members and oversaw | ||||||
| 18 | 40 individual programs within four
agency divisions; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Under Bruce Rasey's leadership, the Howard Area | ||||||
| 20 | Community Center overcame
the multi-year Illinois budget | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | crisis; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, During the Howard Area Community Center's 50th | ||||||
| 3 | anniversary year, Bruce Rasey
led the organization to a record | ||||||
| 4 | breaking year of fundraising in 2017; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bruce Rasey guided the Howard Area Community | ||||||
| 6 | Center through seven years of sustained growth and | ||||||
| 7 | forward-thinking
leadership, which positioned them as one of | ||||||
| 8 | the most responsive community organizations in the
greater | ||||||
| 9 | Rogers Park area of Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Bruce Rasey received a Bachelor of Arts in | ||||||
| 11 | Political Science from Western Illinois
University and a Master | ||||||
| 12 | of Science in Community Mental Health from Northern Illinois
| ||||||
| 13 | University; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Bruce Rasey and his wife, Marion, plan to move to | ||||||
| 15 | Florida, where they will spend
their well-deserved retirement | ||||||
| 16 | enjoying the warm weather; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 18 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 19 | congratulate Bruce Rasey on
his retirement as executive | ||||||
| 20 | director of the Howard Area Community Center, and we wish him | ||||||
| 21 | the
best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
