HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize Freedom Middle School on 
4their participation in the 10th Annual Our American Voice 
5Program; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Our American Voice begins with the fundamentals of 
7democracy - how government works - and lessons of change 
8distilled from the American Revolution to the civil rights 
9movement and beyond; it takes a critical additional step by 
10teaching students how to apply these lessons to their local 
11communities, form vigorous partnerships with other 
12organizations, and create living projects and campaigns that 
13generate real results; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Freedom Middle School's project consisted of 
15painting a mural under a nearby bridge; and
  
 


  
16    WHEREAS, Participating in Our American Voice and visiting 
17the Capitol is a memorable learning experience that teaches 
18students the fundamentals of American democracy and helps them 
19work to create positive change in their community; therefore, 
20be it
  
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2recognize Freedom Middle School on their participation in the 
310th Annual Our American Voice Program; and be it further
  
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5presented to Freedom Middle School as a symbol of our respect 
6and esteem.
