HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mark W. Harlow of Kinsman, who passed away on April 19, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Mark Harlow was born in Streator on July 30, 1954; he grew up on his family's farm, where he grew corn and raised sheep as part of his 4-H and FFA projects; he continued to help on the family farm before retiring from farming in 2017; and

WHEREAS, Mark Harlow attended Kinsman Grade School and Mazon High School; he later married Doreen Mills in Dwight on August 19, 1989; together, the couple had two children, Kaitlyn and Perry; and

WHEREAS, Mark Harlow was a longtime public official in Grundy County; he served as Mayor of Kinsman for 30 years; he also served as the Highland Township Road Commissioner; in addition, he was a member of the Grundy County Farm Bureau and was a volunteer firefighter with the Verona-Kinsman Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Mark Harlow will be remembered as someone who would answer the phone at any time of night to help clear a flooded road or a neighbor's driveway after a big snow; he loved his International Harvester and Farmall H tractors, as well as snowmobiling with family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Mark Harlow was preceded in death by his father, Elmer; and

WHEREAS, Mark Harlow is survived by his wife, Doreen; his children, Kaitlyn and Perry; his mother, Ruth; and his sisters, Sandy and Sharon; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mark W. Harlow and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mark Harlow as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
