| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize Paul Ritter for his
|
| 4 | | outstanding and distinguished work regarding the |
| 5 | | reintroduction of alligator snapping turtles back into
their |
| 6 | | natural habitats, with the goal of eventually bringing the |
| 7 | | species back to sustainable levels in Illinois; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Paul Ritter, along with Dr. Brady Barr of National |
| 9 | | Geographic, designed and developed the
Operation Endangered |
| 10 | | Species-Alligator Snapping Turtle program, which has received |
| 11 | | numerous grants
from both public and private organizations, |
| 12 | | including State Farm Insurance and the Illinois Wildlife
|
| 13 | | Preservation Fund; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Paul Ritter has worked extensively with the |
| 15 | | Illinois Department of Natural Resources in their
own alligator |
| 16 | | snapping turtle program, which includes partnerships with zoos |
| 17 | | and other animal
organizations; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Paul Ritter's work originates from his intense |
| 19 | | love of biology, which he demonstrates daily in his job,
|
| 20 | | inspiring others as a biology teacher at Pontiac Township High |
| 21 | | School in Pontiac; and
