HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Brendon Michael McCray on 
4achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of 
5America; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Brendon McCray is a member of Boy Scout Troop 270 
7in Frankfort and Rainbow Council in Lockport; as a Scout, he 
8has served his troop in a variety of leadership roles, 
9including Assistant Patrol Leader, Historian, and Bugler; he 
10has earned 40 merit badges and is skilled in first aid; he is a 
11senior at Lincoln Way East High School and will continue his 
12education at New York University in the fall; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Brendon McCray has participated in many 
14extracurricular activities, including the Philmont High 
15Adventure training, an adventure in the high country along 
16hundreds of miles of rugged, rocky trails, where he hiked up to 
1720 miles a day and learned how to protect his food supply from 
18bears; as trumpet section leader for the Lincoln Way High 
19School Marching Band, he has developed his communication and 
20leadership skills; he also participated in the polar bear 
21campout, which included camping outdoors in freezing 
22temperatures; he quickly learned how to build a fire to stay 
23warm and to cook for himself and his fellow scouts; and

1    WHEREAS, Brendon McCray completed his Eagle Scout project, 
2the construction of four large planter boxes, for the Frankfort 
3Park District; he designed and constructed planter boxes that 
4were more durable and longer lasting, led a group of scouts and 
5adults, organized and divided the workload, and oversaw each 
6step of the project; he developed his knowledge of project 
7planning and preparedness through this project; and
  
 
  
8    WHEREAS, Brendon McCray sets a fine example for his peers 
9and friends through his leadership, hard work, and commitment; 
10therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
12HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13congratulate Brendon Michael McCray on achieving the rank of 
14Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, and we commend his 
15dedication and determination in achieving this most 
16prestigious of scouting awards; and be it further
  
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18presented to Brendon McCray as an expression of our esteem and 
19respect.
