HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Maze Nails of Peru on the 
4occasion of its 170th anniversary; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Maze Nails was founded in 1848 in the LaSalle Peru 
6area by Samuel Nesbitt Maze, who started manufacturing nails 
7because the customers at his lumber business, Maze Lumber, 
8complained that the nails on their roofs were rusting and 
9blowing away; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Samuel Nesbitt Maze started Maze Nails with a 
11single nail machine and the business quickly grew and moved to 
12its current facility in Peru in 1922; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Maze Nails is now America's premier specialty nail 
14maker and employs 80 people and manufactures over 2,800 types 
15of nails; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Maze Nails has been a family-run enterprise for 
17170 years with Roelif, Pete, and Jim Loveland as the fifth 
18generation to run the business, and they look forward to a 
19future with the sixth generation of Mazes; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Maze Nails invests heavily in the welfare of the

1Illinois Valley through their generosity to numerous 
2charitable and educational institutions; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5congratulate Maze Nails for 170 years of excellence in Illinois 
6manufacturing; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
8presented to the President of Maze Nails, Roelif Loveland as an 
9expression of our esteem and respect.
