| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Fire Chief Michael G. |
| 4 | | Hitzemann of the Bristol Kendall Fire
Protection District on |
| 5 | | the occasion of his retirement on April 30, 2018 after 43 years |
| 6 | | of service; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Chief Hitzemann was born to Richard and Virginia |
| 8 | | Hitzemann on August 15, 1953; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, In April of 1975, Chief Hitzemann joined the |
| 10 | | Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District as a volunteer
|
| 11 | | firefighter; during this time, he was a part of the committee |
| 12 | | that formulated the start of
Bristol Kendall Emergency Medical |
| 13 | | Services; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Between 1971 and 1979, Chief Hitzemann worked for |
| 15 | | the Homer G. Dickson Company as a plumber; from 1979 to 1994, |
| 16 | | he moved from part-owner to ultimately full-owner of the |
| 17 | | Yorkville Plumbing and
Pump Company; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, In the early 1980s, Chief Hitzemann was promoted |
| 19 | | to lieutenant, and on May 1, 1987, he was
elected by his peers |
| 20 | | as fire chief; and |
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, During Chief Hitzemann's time as fire chief, he |
| 2 | | was a part of the committee that formulated
9-1-1 in Kendall |
| 3 | | County, which made Kendall County the first county wide 9-1-1
|
| 4 | | dispatch center in the State of Illinois; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, In 1995, Chief Hitzemann was named the Director of |
| 6 | | Communications of Kencom Public Safety
Dispatch; he became full |
| 7 | | time chief of the Bristol Kendall Fire
Protection District on |
| 8 | | May 1, 2006; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, In addition to being a certified firefighter, |
| 10 | | Chief Hitzemann is a certified instructor, certified
pension |
| 11 | | trustee, and a certified fire trustee; he is a member of the |
| 12 | | Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, the International
|
| 13 | | Association of Fire Chiefs, the Illinois Professional |
| 14 | | Firefighters Association, and the Illinois Public Pension Fund
|
| 15 | | Association; he also is a past vice president of the Yorkville |
| 16 | | Chamber of Commerce; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Previously, Chief Hitzemann was the past |
| 18 | | president of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System
(MABAS) Division |
| 19 | | 14 and a past member of the Waubonsee Community College Fire |
| 20 | | Advisory
Committee; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Chief Hitzemann is a current Alternate |
| 22 | | Representative of the KenCom Executive Board and the
Treasurer |

| 1 | | of the KenCom Executive Board; and |
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Chief Hitzemann is a member of the KenCom |
| 3 | | Strategic Planning Committee, KenCom Personnel
Committee, |
| 4 | | KenCom Bylaws Committee, and KenCom Negotiation Committee; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Chief Hitzemann is the sibling of Kim and Rick |
| 6 | | Hitzemann; he is the father of two
daughters, Ann Regan and |
| 7 | | Cindy Petschke, married to sons-in-law, Kevin Regan and Steve
|
| 8 | | Petschke; he is the proud grandfather of Patrick and William |
| 9 | | Regan, and his granddaughter is
due to arrive near his |
| 10 | | birthday, August 15, 2018, which he shares with his grandson, |
| 11 | | William; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, When Chief Hitzemann is not serving those in his |
| 13 | | community, he greatly enjoys fishing,
golfing, woodworking, |
| 14 | | and traveling; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Chief Hitzemann is a true example of a selfless |
| 16 | | public servant who has devoted his entire career
to helping his |
| 17 | | friends, family, and neighbors; therefore, be it
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 19 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 20 | | congratulate Fire Chief Michael G. Hitzemann of the Bristol |
| 21 | | Kendall Fire Protection District on his retirement, and commend |
