HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Montgomery Police Chief Daniel Meyers on the occasion of his retirement on April 30, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Chief Meyers was born on December 10, 1960; he attended Aurora Central Catholic High School, Waubonsee Community College, and Aurora University; and

WHEREAS, Chief Meyers joined the Montgomery Police Department on February 11, 1985; he has served as an officer, field training officer, detective, sergeant, and deputy chief prior to becoming Chief of Police in November of 2010; and

WHEREAS, Chief Meyers has attended over 1,000 additional hours of special police training seminars; and

WHEREAS, In 2007, Chief Meyers was nominated by FBI officer Paul Bock for the "Stars of Distinction" award by the Chicago Crime Commission for his assistance in "Operation First Degree Burn"; in December of 2008, he graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Chief Meyers is currently president of the Montgomery Police Pension Board, secretary of the Kane County Chiefs of Police Association, and is a member of the FBI National Academy Associates, International Chiefs of Police; and

WHEREAS, Chief Meyers has been has been nominated six times for the "Officer of the Year" award; and

WHEREAS, Chief Meyers enjoys softball and golf; and

WHEREAS, Chief Meyers is an outstanding example of a life well-lived as a true public servant; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Montgomery Police Chief Daniel Meyers on his retirement, and we commend and applaud him on a successful career filled with hard work, passion, and the constant drive to help his community and State; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Meyers as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
