HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, On March 17, 2018, the Southeast High School 
3Spartans competed in the Class 3A Boys State Basketball 
4Tournament, their first state championship game in the school's 
5history; the team concluded an impressive season with a loss to 
6the back-to-back champions, Chicago Morgan Park High School; 
7and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The Southeast Spartans impressed fans across the 
9State when they had an eight-game winning streak and set a 
10school record of 29 wins and four losses for the season; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Spartan Terrion Murdix secured a lead of 23-22 in 
12the second quarter with a big bucket; capitalizing on the 
13momentum after half time, Southeast rallied with senior Kobe 
14Medley, who nailed a three-pointer, which brought the score to 
1544-43 and put the Spartans in the lead again in the third 
16quarter; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Junior All-Star Anthony Fairlee led Southeast 
18with 16 points and ten rebounds, while Murdix and Medley added 
1912 and ten points respectively; and
  
 
  
20    WHEREAS, Through hard work, dedication, team work, and 
21excellent coaching, the Spartans were able to succeed in

1breaking school records and playing in the championship; this 
2season was remarkable for the players, the students, and the 
3fans; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6applaud and commend the Southeast Spartans on their 
7accomplishments and wish them many more successful seasons; and 
8be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the 2018 Southeast High School Spartans coaching 
11staff and school administrators as an expression of our esteem 
12and respect.
