HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club was incorporated 
3as a non-profit organization in 1968 and became a member of 
4Boys Clubs of America in October of that year; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The mission of the Club is "to enable all young 
6people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full 
7potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens"; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The Club has affected the lives of thousands of 
9youth at its original location at 201 East Park Street in 
10Champaign and over the years, at various locations throughout 
11Champaign County; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The Club has partnered with a variety of local 
13organizations, including schools, park districts, local 
14governments, and other youth development agencies to address 
15the needs of youth and families in our community; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, The Club continues to maintain a committed group 
17of board members, staff, volunteers, and donors to provide the 
18leadership, day-to-day operations, resources, and support 
19necessary to carry out its mission and work; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, The Club celebrates 50 years of being a safe place

1for members to learn, grow, and have fun; the Club is dedicated 
2to opening doors to greater futures for all youth in the 
3community, especially those with the greatest need; therefore, 
4be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
6HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7congratulate the Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club on the occasion of 
8its 50th anniversary, and we recognize Thursday, April 19, 2018 
9as Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club Day in the State of Illinois; 
10and be it further

  
 
11    RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club as an expression 
13of our esteem and respect.
