HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James W. 
4"Jim" Loyd, of Roxana, who passed away on April 6, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Loyd moved to the Village of Roxana with his 
6family in 1947, at the age of 12; he graduated from Roxana High 
7School in 1953; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Jim Loyd served his country in the United States 
9Navy, where he worked as a document transporter in Washington, 
10D.C. during the Korean War; following his discharge, he 
11returned to the place he called home, the Village of Roxana; 
12and
  
 

  
13    WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Jim Loyd worked for every 
14department in the Village of Roxana, including the Library 
15Board and the Park Board; he served as a Roxana police officer 
16for 33 years, 17 of which he served as police chief; following 
17his retirement, he was elected mayor and also served multiple 
18terms as a board member; therefore, be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
20HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
21mourn the passing of James W. "Jim" Loyd and extend our sincere

1condolences to his wife, Judy, and his children, Beth, K.C., 
2and Kirsten, as well as his family, friends, and all who knew 
3and loved him; we acknowledge his tireless dedication to the 
4Village of Roxana and his many years of public service; we 
5mourn the passing of James; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Jim Loyd as an expression of our 
8deepest sympathy.
