HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Oliver 
4Alexander of Chicago Heights, who passed away on April 9, 2018; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Oliver Alexander graduated from Bloom High School 
7and Grambling State University, where he played football; he 
8was married to Betty, and they had two children; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Oliver Alexander was an educator and also worked 
10for the government of Bloom Township; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Oliver Alexander was a dedicated public servant; 
12he served on the Bloom Township District #206 Board of 
13Education, where he was President, as a Trustee for Prairie 
14State College in Chicago Heights, as an Alderman for the Third 
15Ward in the City of Chicago Heights, and as a member of the 
16CEDA Board; he also served as the Supervisor of the Work 
17Program for Bloom Township government; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Oliver Alexander was a Chicago Heights "trail 
19blazer" for the annual Black History Month recognition; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Oliver Alexander was a Deacon at Christ Temple #1

1Church in the east side neighborhood of Chicago Heights; 
2therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5mourn the passing of Oliver Alexander and extend our sincere 
6condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
7him; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Oliver Alexander as an expression of 
10our deepest sympathy.
