| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize Daniel V. Beiser for his time | ||||||
| 4 | as an Illinois State Representative; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Representative Beiser represented the 111th | ||||||
| 6 | District as a full-time state legislator from December 2004 | ||||||
| 7 | through December of 2017; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Representative Beiser was born and raised in Alton | ||||||
| 9 | and graduated from Alton Marquette Catholic High School in | ||||||
| 10 | 1974; in 1978, he graduated from Southern Illinois University | ||||||
| 11 | Edwardsville (SIUE), and he married Terri Beiser that same | ||||||
| 12 | year; they have two children, Courtney and Dane; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, In 1987, Representative Beiser was elected to the | ||||||
| 14 | Alton City Council, where he worked on improving city services; | ||||||
| 15 | in 1989, he was elected as City Treasurer and was re-elected | ||||||
| 16 | for three subsequent terms; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, In 2004, Representative Beiser was appointed to | ||||||
| 18 | serve as State Representative of the 111th District, and he has | ||||||
| 19 | won re-election each cycle since then; as representative, he | ||||||
| 20 | has worked to protect middle class families by closing | ||||||
| 21 | corporate loopholes and protecting worker benefits; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Representative Beiser has fought to bring | ||||||
| 2 | millions of additional funding to local schools and to protect | ||||||
| 3 | funding for several programs, including autism and epilepsy | ||||||
| 4 | services for youth, early childhood education, and child care | ||||||
| 5 | assistance programs; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Representative Beiser has been a strong advocate | ||||||
| 7 | for making health care affordable; he has backed funding for | ||||||
| 8 | breast and cervical cancer screenings, mental health and | ||||||
| 9 | addiction services, and has fought to protect senior citizens; | ||||||
| 10 | and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Representative Beiser retired from the state | ||||||
| 12 | legislature in December 2017, after the first year of the 100th | ||||||
| 13 | General Assembly; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 15 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 16 | recognize Daniel Beiser for his time and accomplishments as an | ||||||
| 17 | Illinois State Representative, and we wish him all the best in | ||||||
| 18 | his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to Representative Beiser as a symbol of our esteem | ||||||
| 21 | and respect.
