HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Eduardo "Eddie" Garcia on 
4receiving the 33rd Annual Charles E. Piper Award; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Each year, the Berwyn Development Corporation 
6selects an individual who best exemplifies the spirit of one of 
7Berwyn's original developers, Charles E. Piper; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Eddie Garcia was born in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico 
9and is a graduate of St. Joseph High School; he is a first 
10generation Mexican-American born to proud immigrant parents, 
11Florencia Rosas and Aristeo E. Garcia; the Garcia family 
12migrated from Mexico City to the United States in 1989 when 
13Eddie was only five years old; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, At the age of 21, Eddie Garcia attained his real 
15estate license; he sold his first property six months later; in 
162012, he founded Realty of Chicago; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, In 2017, Realty of Chicago closed $126 million in 
18sales and has grown to over 80 agents with three offices 
19located throughout the Chicago area; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Each year, Eddie Garcia and Realty of Chicago give

1back to the communities of Berwyn and Cicero, providing 
2thousands of children with backpacks and school supplies, 
3feeding over 15,000 people on Thanksgiving Day, and providing 
4scholarships to high school graduates; therefore, be it
 

  
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
6HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7congratulate Eduardo "Eddie" Garcia on receiving the 33rd 
8Annual Charles E. Piper Award, and we wish him the best in all 
9his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Eddie Garcia as a symbol of our respect and 
12esteem.
