HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The State of Georgia recently dissolved its 
3partnership with Delta
Airlines as a result of the airline 
4discontinuing its business ties with the National
Rifle 
5Association (NRA) following the school shooting in Parkland, 
6Florida; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Illinois recognizes the underlying impetus of 
8Delta Airlines to merit
its decision to sever its alliance with 
9the NRA; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Delta Airlines will inevitably begin to 
11reconsider its strategic location
beyond Hartsfield-Jackson 
12Atlanta International Airport in the city of Atlanta,
Georgia; 
13and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois remains a welcome and open 
15environment to
attract business, investment, and economic 
16competition within its territorial
jurisdiction; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Air travel is the primary and central mode of 
18transit for Illinoisans
and Americans, both across the country 
19and abroad; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, The airport infrastructure in the State of

1Illinois is equipped to
withstand and sustain the influx of 
2high volume air traffic within its airspace and
on its runways; 
3therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

6welcome and encourage Delta Airlines to consider Illinois as a 
7destination to
relocate their business headquarters and fleet 
8of aircraft; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10delivered to Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastian.
