HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, It is with great sorrow that the Illinois House of 
3Representatives learned of the death of Commander Paul R. 
4Bauer, who passed away in the line of duty while serving his 
5city as a member of the Chicago Police Department on Tuesday, 
6February 13, 2018; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer made the ultimate sacrifice 
8for his community, one that he swore to protect; he shall be 
9remembered as a true hero to the people and to his family; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer was a 31-year veteran of the 
11Chicago Police Department; he rose to the rank of Commander and 
12led the mounted unit before becoming Commander of the 18th 
13District on Chicago's near north side; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer will be remembered for his 
15bravery in answering the call of duty; he made it his mission 
16in life to connect with the community he served; he is 
17remembered not only as a Chicago police officer, but also as a 
18humble, big-hearted public servant; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer was a husband, brother, son, 
20and father; he loved his daughter, Grace, and his wife, Erin, 
21who were the center of his world; he will be remembered as a

1hero to the people of Chicago and as a loving man who was 
2committed to his family; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer is survived by his daughter, 
4Grace; his wife, Erin (Molloy); his parents, Paul and Annette 
5Bauer; and his sisters, Pam (Andy) Howell, Sue (Frank) March, 
6and Jane (Chris) Schuleitand; he will also be remembered as a 
7dear brother-in-law, uncle, and friend; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer gave his life to his 
9community and the people of Chicago on February 13, 2018; 
10therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
12HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13mourn the passing of Commander Paul Bauer and extend our 
14sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew 
15and loved him; and be it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17presented to the family of Commander Paul Bauer as an 
18expression of our deepest sympathy.
