| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is with great sorrow that the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives learned of the death of Commander Paul R. |
| 4 | | Bauer, who passed away in the line of duty while serving his |
| 5 | | city as a member of the Chicago Police Department on Tuesday, |
| 6 | | February 13, 2018; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer made the ultimate sacrifice |
| 8 | | for his community, one that he swore to protect; he shall be |
| 9 | | remembered as a true hero to the people and to his family; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer was a 31-year veteran of the |
| 11 | | Chicago Police Department; he rose to the rank of Commander and |
| 12 | | led the mounted unit before becoming Commander of the 18th |
| 13 | | District on Chicago's near north side; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer will be remembered for his |
| 15 | | bravery in answering the call of duty; he made it his mission |
| 16 | | in life to connect with the community he served; he is |
| 17 | | remembered not only as a Chicago police officer, but also as a |
| 18 | | humble, big-hearted public servant; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer was a husband, brother, son, |
| 20 | | and father; he loved his daughter, Grace, and his wife, Erin, |
| 21 | | who were the center of his world; he will be remembered as a |
