HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are proud to recognize those citizens who have 
4performed dedicated service to their local community; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, In 1986, The citizens of Waggoner and the 
6surrounding communities hoped to raise money for the 
7maintenance of Waggoner's original high school gymnasium, 
8which was built in 1921 and also served as the village's 
9elementary school before it closed in 1986; to meet this 
10financial goal, the Waggoner Centennial Players, a community 
11theater group, was formed by Donald Webb and hosted its first 
12original dinner theater production in 1989; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Every year since its formation, the community 
14theater group comes together for a performance; the event 
15includes everyone from the actors who decorate the tables and 
16help serve the dinner prior to the performance, to members of 
17the local high school's chapter of Future Farmers of America 
18who wash the dishes; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Waggoner is a village with a population less than 
20300 people, and each year, more than 1,700 tickets are sold, by 
21wait list only, for performances at the Centennial Building; 
22performances occur over the first three weekends in March; and

1    WHEREAS, The fundraiser typically nets more than $20,000 
2and has allowed the Waggoner Centennial Building to remain open 
3without the need of other State or federal funds; therefore, be 
4it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
6HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7extend our best wishes, appreciation, and congratulations to 
8the Village of Waggoner and the members of the Waggoner 
9Centennial players on their 30th annual production; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That we join in expressing the sincere wish that 
12the Waggoner Centennial Players may continue their successful 
13fundraising efforts in the years to come; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
15presented to the members of the Waggoner Centennial Players and 
16the Village of Waggoner.
