HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Richwoods High School Lady Knights on winning the 2018 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Basketball Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, With immense support from their fellow students and the community, seven fan buses were sent to the State Championship game at Redbird Arena in Normal on Saturday, March 3, 2018; student fans alone filled two sections of the arena; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Knights bested LaGrange Park Nazareth Academy 55-46 to clench the championship title, ending their outstanding season with a 35-1 record; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Knights State Championship win was the 1,001 win for the Richwoods girls basketball program and the fourth state championship; Richwoods is the third program in IHSA history to reach the milestone, joining Chicago Marshall and Teutopolis; and

WHEREAS, The 2018 championship team roster included Kourtney Crane (Captain), Natalie Des Jardins, Mariah Hopson, Tianna Johnson, Uniquek Johnson, Jaida McCloud, Kileli Markovich, Tori Nimmers, Gabbi Okojie, Trinity Sims, Camryn Swietek, Camryn Taylor, Nia Williams, and A'miya Wilson; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Knights are led by Head Coach Todd Hursey, Assistant Coaches Ralph Gallo, Parker Gross, Kevin Metzger, and Jordan Hursey, Athletic Trainer Brady Cufaude, Manager Sarika Glasnovich, and Statistician Russ Wittmer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we join the many friends and fans of the Richwoods Lady Knights in congratulating them on winning the 2018 Girls Class 3A Basketball State Championship, and we wish them continued success and a repeat championship in 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Lady Knights as an expression of our esteem and respect.
