HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Albers-Damiansville 
4girls basketball team, the Cougars, on winning the 2017-2018 
5Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association 
6Class S Championship; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Cougars defeated St. Mary's of Mt. Vernon by a 
8score of 47 to 40 in the title game played at
Rend Lake 
9College; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The Cougars ended their season with a record of 27 
11wins and one loss; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The Cougars are Sophia Kennett, Julia Korte, 
13MaKenna Lake, Abigail Crosby, Camryn Hall, Sophia
Bretz, Tori 
14Joest, Austyn Jansen, Avery Budde, Maddy Santel, Reagan 
15Norrenbers, and Sophie Thomas; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Maddy Santel led the scoring with 20 points and 
17was 11-for-12 from the foul line; Austyn Jansen had nine

18points, Avery Budde had eight points, Sophie Thomas had six 
19points, and Julia Korte had four points; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Coaches Taylor Kampwerth and Nick Hollenkamp and

1Manager Kaitlyn Toennies helped
orchestrate and plan a 
2successful campaign; and
  
 

  
3    WHEREAS, The Cougars completed an excellent season, using 
4teamwork, commitment, and hard work to overcome the many 
5challenges
the season presented and complete such an amazing 
6accomplishment; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
8HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9commend and applaud the Albers-Damiansville girls basketball 
10team, the Cougars, on winning the 2017-2018 Southern Illinois 
11Junior High School Athletic Association Class S Championship 
12and on their humility and
respect for one another on and off 
13the basketball court; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be

15presented to the coaches and members of the Cougars as a symbol

16of our respect and esteem.
