| 6 | | providing children with a positive goal to achieve and a forum |
| 7 | | to display the fruits of their hard work; and

| 8 | | WHEREAS, In addition to improving spelling, spelling bees |
| 9 | | also aid children in learning concepts, improving |
| 10 | | comprehension, and developing study skills; and

| 11 | | WHEREAS, The benefits of spelling bees extend beyond |
| 12 | | language; and

| 13 | | WHEREAS, Students are required to spell words while in |
| 14 | | front of an audience; children also develop self confidence, |
| 15 | | communication and public speaking skills, and the ability to |
| 16 | | thrive under pressure; and

| 17 | | WHEREAS, Participating in a spelling bee teaches children |
| 18 | | lessons that can last a lifetime and can benefit even those who |
| 19 | | do not outlast all competitors; and
