| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Art Dykstra on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as the President and Executive | ||||||
| 5 | Director of Trinity Services; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Art Dykstra grew up in Racine, Wisconsin and | ||||||
| 7 | attended Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota; he earned a | ||||||
| 8 | master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Bradley | ||||||
| 9 | University; he completed his psychology internship at Elgin | ||||||
| 10 | State Hospital in Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Art Dykstra was named President and Executive | ||||||
| 12 | Director of Trinity Services in 1987 after a distinguished | ||||||
| 13 | 20-year career with the Illinois Department of Mental Health | ||||||
| 14 | and Developmental Disabilities, where he served as Facility | ||||||
| 15 | Director for two state-operated developmental centers, served | ||||||
| 16 | as the Chicago Regional Administrator for Developmental | ||||||
| 17 | Disabilities, and also worked as a Policy and Program Adviser | ||||||
| 18 | for the Director of the Department; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Art Dykstra has taught classes at both the | ||||||
| 20 | undergraduate and graduate levels; he is a frequent speaker at | ||||||
| 21 | local, state, and national conferences and a published author; | ||||||
| 22 | and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Art Dykstra has served as the President of the | ||||||
| 2 | Board on The Council on Quality and Leadership; he has also | ||||||
| 3 | served as the past President of the Illinois Chapter of the | ||||||
| 4 | American Association on Intellectual and Developmental | ||||||
| 5 | Disabilities, the Illinois Council of Executive Directors of | ||||||
| 6 | the ARC, and the Illinois Association of Rehabilitation | ||||||
| 7 | Facilities; he also serves on many other boards and advisory | ||||||
| 8 | councils and is a fellow of the American Association on | ||||||
| 9 | Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Art Dykstra has been recognized for his leadership | ||||||
| 11 | with the Lifetime Achievement Award from Lewis University; he | ||||||
| 12 | received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of | ||||||
| 13 | Liberal Arts and Sciences at Bradley University; the | ||||||
| 14 | Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies honored him | ||||||
| 15 | for his commitment to the cognitive behavioral therapy | ||||||
| 16 | community with the Distinguished Friend to the Behavioral and | ||||||
| 17 | Cognitive Therapies Award; he was recognized by the Autism | ||||||
| 18 | Program of Illinois when he received the Autism Ally Public | ||||||
| 19 | Policy Award through the ARC of Illinois in 2012; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Art Dykstra and his wife, Anita, live in New | ||||||
| 21 | Lenox; in their spare time, they enjoy fishing, gardening, and | ||||||
| 22 | catching frogs; therefore, be it

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 2 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 3 | congratulate Art Dykstra on his retirement as the President and | ||||||
| 4 | Executive Director of Trinity Services, and we wish him the | ||||||
| 5 | best in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to Art Dykstra as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 8 | respect.
