| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jeffrey |
| 4 | | L. Weissgerber, Chief of Police for the Village of Beecher, who |
| 5 | | passed away on October 5, 2017; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Chief Weissgerber was hired as a full-time police |
| 7 | | officer by the Village of Beecher in April of 1988 and received |
| 8 | | certification as an officer from the Police Training Institute |
| 9 | | on October 7, 1988; he was promoted to the rank of sergeant in |
| 10 | | the Beecher Police Department in 1992, and then to the rank of |
| 11 | | lieutenant in 1994; he served as Acting Chief of Police in 1998 |
| 12 | | and again in 2000; he was appointed Chief of Police on May 1, |
| 13 | | 2000 and served in that position for the last 17 years; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Chief Weissgerber was the longest-serving village |
| 15 | | employee, providing service to the residents of Beecher for 29 |
| 16 | | years; he received numerous written commendations from his |
| 17 | | superiors and many letters of gratitude from residents whom he |
| 18 | | assisted during their time of need; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Chief Weissgerber was the longest-serving police |
| 20 | | chief in Illinois and carried out his duties for the people of |
| 21 | | Beecher with integrity and courage; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Chief Weissgerber was preceded in death by his |
| 2 | | father, Alfred Weissgerber, and his mother and father-in-law, |
| 3 | | James and Earleyne Meinhart; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Chief Weissgerber is survived by his wife, Jackie; |
| 5 | | his children, Brian, Jamie, Nick, Georgie, and Logan; his |
| 6 | | mother, Carol Weissgerber; his siblings, Mark Weissgerber, |
| 7 | | Lisa (Joe) Maidman, and Kurt Weissgerber; his sister-in-law, |
| 8 | | Marilyn Gill; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and |
| 9 | | nephews; therefore, be it
|
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 11 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 12 | | mourn the passing of Jeffrey L. Weissgerber, Chief of Police |
| 13 | | for the Village of Beecher, and extend our sincere condolences |
| 14 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
| 15 | | it further
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 17 | | presented to the family of Chief Weissgerber as an expression |
| 18 | | of our deepest sympathy.
