HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jeffrey 
4L. Weissgerber, Chief of Police for the Village of Beecher, who 
5passed away on October 5, 2017; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Weissgerber was hired as a full-time police 
7officer by the Village of Beecher in April of  1988 and received 
8certification as an officer from the Police Training Institute 
9on October 7, 1988; he was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 
10the Beecher Police Department in 1992, and then to the rank of 
11lieutenant in 1994; he served as Acting Chief of Police in 1998 
12and again in 2000; he was appointed Chief of Police on May 1, 
132000 and served in that position for the last 17 years; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Chief Weissgerber was the longest-serving village 
15employee, providing service to the residents of Beecher for 29 
16years; he received numerous written commendations from his 
17superiors and many letters of gratitude from residents whom he 
18assisted during their time of need; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Chief Weissgerber was the longest-serving police 
20chief in Illinois and carried out his duties for the  people of 
21Beecher with integrity and courage; and

1    WHEREAS, Chief Weissgerber was preceded in death by his 
2father, Alfred Weissgerber, and his mother and father-in-law, 
3James and Earleyne Meinhart; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Chief Weissgerber is survived by his wife, Jackie; 
5his children, Brian, Jamie, Nick, Georgie, and Logan; his 
6mother, Carol Weissgerber; his siblings, Mark Weissgerber, 
7Lisa (Joe) Maidman, and Kurt Weissgerber; his sister-in-law, 
8Marilyn Gill; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and 
9nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
11HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12mourn the passing of Jeffrey L. Weissgerber, Chief of Police 
13for the Village of Beecher, and extend our sincere condolences 
14to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be 
15it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17presented to  the family of  Chief Weissgerber as an expression 
18of our deepest sympathy.
