| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Bill Moore on the occasion |
| 4 | | of his 100th birthday on November 15, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Moore grew up on a 200-acre farm in Kentucky, |
| 6 | | the second youngest of nine children; he started school at the |
| 7 | | age of four and enrolled in college at 15; he received his |
| 8 | | degree in accounting at the age of 20 and earned a commission |
| 9 | | with the United States Navy, rising to the rank of senior |
| 10 | | lieutenant in the British West
Indies; after he was discharged |
| 11 | | following the war, he and wife, Freda, settled in Aurora, where |
| 12 | | he started an
accounting firm; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Bill Moore joined the Kiwanis Club of Aurora in |
| 14 | | 1950; he is still an active member, driving himself to the |
| 15 | | Prisco Community Center every Tuesday for the weekly
noon |
| 16 | | meetings; he has been volunteering for the Kiwanis Pancake |
| 17 | | Breakfast fundraiser ever since the first local breakfast was
|
| 18 | | held in 1951; he has participated in the chapter's numerous |
| 19 | | service projects, which have included everything from handing |
| 20 | | out
peanuts to building playgrounds; he served as treasurer for |
| 21 | | five years and on the board of directors; and
|
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Bill Moore was named
Kiwanian of the Year in 1986; |
