| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Gary Kasanders on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as Executive Director of the | ||||||
| 5 | Westchester Park District; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Gary Kasanders joined the Westchester Park | ||||||
| 7 | District in 1971 while still in high school; he started out as | ||||||
| 8 | the supervisor of the teen center and ran the majority of the | ||||||
| 9 | athletic programs; he became the Day Camp Director in 1972, | ||||||
| 10 | eventually becoming the director of all the camps in 1973; in | ||||||
| 11 | 1983, after graduating from college with a degree in parks and | ||||||
| 12 | recreation administration, he became director of the entire | ||||||
| 13 | park district; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, In 1985, Gary Kasanders hired Linda to be the | ||||||
| 15 | preschool director at the park district; they married in 1986 | ||||||
| 16 | and have four children, Erin, Christopher, Meghan, and Steven; | ||||||
| 17 | and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, As Executive Director, Gary Kasanders helped the | ||||||
| 19 | park district grow; his accomplishments include the | ||||||
| 20 | redevelopment of Mayfair parkland, the building of the Mayfair | ||||||
| 21 | Recreational Center in 1990, the multiple additions to both the | ||||||
| 22 | Mayfair Recreational Center and the Community Center, the | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | renovation of the John Sinde pool, 20 successful years of the | ||||||
| 2 | VetRun, and bringing the Vietnam Moving Wall to town for the | ||||||
| 3 | 20th year of the VetRun; along with village officials and | ||||||
| 4 | members of the local chamber of commerce, he was instrumental | ||||||
| 5 | in the operation of the Westchester Fest; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, During his tenure at the park district, Gary | ||||||
| 7 | Kasanders built many great relationships with individuals, | ||||||
| 8 | organizations, and government agencies, some of which have | ||||||
| 9 | grown into lifelong friendships; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Gary Kasanders has provided the Westchester Park | ||||||
| 11 | District with over four decades of dedication and leadership; | ||||||
| 12 | his commitment to improving the park district combined with his | ||||||
| 13 | depth of knowledge and expertise will be missed; therefore, be | ||||||
| 14 | it

| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 16 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 17 | congratulate Gary Kasanders on his retirement as Executive | ||||||
| 18 | Director of the Westchester Park District, and we wish him the | ||||||
| 19 | best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to Gary Kasanders as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 22 | esteem.
