| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize Tony Passero for his generous | ||||||
| 4 | commitment to the transformation and enrichment of areas in the | ||||||
| 5 | City of Chicago through his public artwork; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Tony Passero was born in Chicago and grew up on | ||||||
| 7 | the city's North side with his mother, father, and younger | ||||||
| 8 | sister; he attended the Chicago public grade school, Scammon, | ||||||
| 9 | and the Catholic high school, Gordon Technical; a self-taught | ||||||
| 10 | artist, he never attended art school or received formal | ||||||
| 11 | training; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Tony Passero founded the TribeAgency, an | ||||||
| 13 | advertising agency based out of Chicago; he is the lead | ||||||
| 14 | creative director and CEO; he is also a celebrated graphic | ||||||
| 15 | designer and has created work for many companies, including | ||||||
| 16 | Dreamworks, Sony Music, Manchester United, Sears, and Taco | ||||||
| 17 | Bell; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Tony Passero has contributed to numerous | ||||||
| 19 | worldwide charities and countless local benevolences, such as | ||||||
| 20 | the AIDSWalk, Chicago Gateway Green, Chicago Fire Foundation, | ||||||
| 21 | Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and United Way; he is a chair on | ||||||
| 22 | the boards of several charities and community organizations, | ||||||

| 1 | including Arts Alive Chicago, Alderman's Arts Advisory | ||||||
| 2 | Committee, Independence Park Advisory Council, Foundation For | ||||||
| 3 | A Better Life, and the Northwest Arts Connection; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Tony Passero envisions possibilities where others | ||||||
| 5 | see filthy expressway viaducts or bleak train station walls; he | ||||||
| 6 | notes places in the city that could use a transformation and | ||||||
| 7 | improves the area by creating public art in the form of murals; | ||||||
| 8 | the majority of his city mural work is self-funded; he donates | ||||||
| 9 | his time and ideas, and also files appropriate paperwork with | ||||||
| 10 | aldermen and transportation officials while building bridges | ||||||
| 11 | with community members; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Tony Passero has conceived and painted his own | ||||||
| 13 | murals at various locations in Chicago, including the Whoot | ||||||
| 14 | Mural on Belmont Avenue, the Manifest Mural at the Pulaski Blue | ||||||
| 15 | Line exit, the CrossCuts Mural at the Addison Kennedy | ||||||
| 16 | Expressway Exit, the Positive Babel Mural at the Irving Park | ||||||
| 17 | Metra Station, the Jumbo Jet Mural along the Kennedy | ||||||
| 18 | Expressway, the Spin Cycles at 6 Corners Shopping District; the | ||||||
| 19 | Colorribean Mural on Case Avenue, ad the Hep Cat Mural on | ||||||
| 20 | Cicero Avenue; he also participated as one of the lead artists | ||||||
| 21 | on the Addison and Avondale Mural and Police Memorial Mural on | ||||||
| 22 | Montrose; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 23 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||

| 1 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 2 | recognize Tony Passero on his generous and inspiring | ||||||
| 3 | contributions to the betterment of neighborhoods in the City of | ||||||
| 4 | Chicago and the lives of his fellow Chicagoans, and we | ||||||
| 5 | encourage him to continue envisioning possibilities; and be it | ||||||
| 6 | further

| 7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 8 | presented to Tony Passero as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 9 | respect.
