HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Com-Pac
International on 
4their products being selected by NASA for use aboard the 
5International Space
Station; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, In 1970, Com-Pac International created the 
7world's first liquid-tight, re-closable bag; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Operating in Carbondale, the company employs more 
9than 200 people in production,
engineering, management, and 
10supporting roles; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Com-Pac International is a fully integrated 
12extruder, printer, and converter of custom plastic
packaging 
13for medical, food, and industrial applications; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, In August of 2017, the company was notified by 
15NASA that their BITRAN leak-proof specimen
bags would be used 
16by scientists aboard the International Space Station to 
17transport proteins related to
Parkinson's Disease; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, On August 14, 2017, the products were launched 
19into space from Kennedy Space Center in
Florida as part of a 
20resupply mission; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3congratulate Com-Pac International on their products being 
4selected by
NASA for use aboard the International Space 
5Station; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
7presented to Com-Pac International and its
employees.
