HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives wishes to 
3congratulate the Breese Fire Department on the occasion of its 
4125th anniversary and recognize its tradition of bravery and 
5dedication; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Breese Fire Department was founded in January 
7of 1892, twenty-one years after the founding of the town of 
8Breese; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Breese Volunteer Fire Department No. 1, 
10started with seventeen men who, before the department received 
11horses, pulled the fire pump to emergencies; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The Breese Fire Department's pump was purchased, 
13and the fire house was completed in October of 1892, a little 
14more than nine months after the founding of the department; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The department purchased its first motorized fire 
16truck in 1918, which was funded by firemen picnics, masked 
17balls, dances, and taxes from the Breese Township; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Today, the Breese Fire Department averages one 
19hundred and twenty emergency calls a year, has six emergency 
20vehicles, and thirty-five volunteer firefighters; and

1    WHEREAS, The Breese Fire Department exemplifies the best 
2qualities of rural Illinois and the community spirit that 
3defines the small towns and villages of this great State; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, The department continues to live up to its motto, 
5"Semper Paratus" or "Always Ready"; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
7HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8congratulate the Breese Fire Department on its 125th 
9anniversary, and that we wish it 125 more years of continued 
10operation and faithful service to its community; and be it 
11further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent 
13to the Breese Fire Department and Chief Robert Wuest.
