HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

3Representatives wish to congratulate George Grosso on his 59

4years of service as a firefighter with the Limestone Township 
5Fire
Protection District as well as his dedication and 
6commitment to
his local community; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, George Grosso joined the fire service in 1958 as a

8rookie; he was appointed to the board of
trustees in September 
9of 1981  and is now the treasurer of the
district; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, George Grosso dedicated countless hours to the

11repair and maintenance of the department's fire apparatuses,

12ensuring that the equipment was always ready and in top

13condition; and
 
14    WHEREAS, George Grosso is a successful independent 
15businessman,
nevertheless, he was always ready to respond to

16local emergencies, including such historic disasters as the 
17week-long
Phillips Petroleum Gas Well Fire, the Limestone 
18School
Fire, and the Crescent City Train Derailment; and
 
19    WHEREAS, George Grosso participated as a trustee in two

20fire station remodels and expansions and the land
acquisition 
21for the construction of a new fire station in
Limestone

1Township; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, George Grosso recently received an Outstanding

3Community Service Award from the Illinois Association of Fire

4Protection Districts; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Since 1958, George Grosso has seen the department

6grow from a small volunteer department to an organization with 
7full-time, part-time, and paid on-call firefighters and

8paramedics; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, George Grosso epitomizes the best that Illinois

10has to offer and stands as an example to future generations; 
11therefore, be it
  
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
13HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

14congratulate George Grosso on his 59 years of dedication and

15service and that we wish him a happy and fulfilling retirement; 
16and be it further
  
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18presented
to George Grossman as a symbol of our esteem and 
19respect.
