HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Willie Leavell Dancy was born on April 17, 1950 in 
3the town of Shuqualak, Mississippi to the
union of  Bennie 
4"Will" Dancy and  Elizabeth Ross-Dancy; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Willie Dancy and his family relocated from 
6Shuqualak to East St.
Louis in 1952; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Willie Dancy attended East St. Louis public 
8schools, starting with Lucas
Elementary School and 
9Hughes-Quinn Jr. High School; he graduated from Lincoln Senior 
10High School in
1969; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Willie Dancy is the proud father of 12 children; 
12and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Willie Dancy has served the East St. Louis 
14Community as a precinct
committeeman, park district president, 
15and Saint Clair County Board Member; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Willie Dancy served East St. Louis School District 
17#189 for over 38
years; therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
19HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1express our sincere thanks and gratitude for the years of

2dedicated service  by Willie Leavell Dancy, and we wish him good 
3health, happiness, and
continued success in his retirement; and 
4be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That we declare July 29, 2017 as Willie Leavell 
6Dancy Day in East St. Louis; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
8presented to Willie Dancy and East St. Louis Mayor Emeka 
9Jackson-Hicks.
