HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Henry County Farm Bureau on the occasion of its 100th anniversary and on its tradition of serving the farmers of Henry County and the community; and

WHEREAS, After having obtained a minimum of 300 members as required to fund its operations, the Henry County Farm Bureau was formed on September 18, 1917; and

WHEREAS, Today, the Henry County Farm Bureau has more than 4,100 members and carries on the traditions of the Farm Bureau by educating, informing, and advocating for Henry County and Illinois farmers; and

WHEREAS, The Ag Literacy Coalition was formed in 2001 as a collaborative effort between the Henry County Farm Bureau Foundation, various commodity groups, and local businesses to educate the youth on agriculture as well as the modern food and fiber industry; and

WHEREAS, The Henry County Farm Bureau also takes part in charitable activities such as the Bushels for Hunger program that has donated a total of $183,421 dollars in grains to local foodbanks; and

WHEREAS, The Henry County Farm Bureau works to educate local farmers and members, keeping them informed on important industry and political developments; and

WHEREAS, The Henry County Farm Bureau, under the leadership of President Dennis Verbeck, continues to serve the local agricultural community as it has for the last 100 years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Henry County Farm Bureau on its 100th anniversary, and we wish it 100 more years of continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Henry County Farm Bureau and Henry County Farm Bureau President Dennis Verbeck as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
